The year 2012 was significant for Tuper, especially the date of September 14, which marked the inauguration of the Tuper Oil and Gas unit, TOG, created with the goal of manufacturing structural, industrial, and conduit pipes to meet the growing demands of the oil and gas, construction, infrastructure, agribusiness, and industrial sectors. The unit, born with the slogan “Helping to drive Brazil’s development,” over the past decade has brilliantly fulfilled its purpose, helping turn large projects into reality within the national territory. It has also gone beyond borders, taking the Tuper name to various countries through pipe exports. It’s worth noting that the unit has been exporting to the demanding North American market since the beginning, one of the world’s largest consumers of API steel pipes used throughout the oil and gas supply chain. The product range includes carbon steel pipes from 5 1/2 to 13 3/8 inches with thicknesses ranging from 3mm to 16mm.
Some TOG figures
The unit resulted from an investment of R$ 198 million and today accounts for approximately 30% of the company’s revenue with a prominent share in both domestic and international markets. TOG has a manufacturing plant with 35,000 square meters and, to ensure product excellence, processes, and results, it constantly invests in knowledge updating programs and continuing education for its professional team.
Starting in 2015, TOG expanded its range of services by investing in a modern pipe coating line to add anti-corrosion protection to aerial and buried ducts. To date, it has supplied approximately 450 kilometers of Triple-Layer Polyethylene coated pipes for Brazil’s most important gas pipelines.
Some notable projects include the first order fulfilled by the unit, which was 200 tons of pipes for the construction of the Governor Plácido Castelo Stadium, known as Arena Castelão, in Fortaleza (one of the venues for the 2014 World Cup). Other highlights include supplying 60 kilometers of API 5L conduit pipes for the Serra Catarinense gas pipeline for SCGás and delivering quick-connect tubular piles for the construction of an important paper and pulp industry in Lençóis Paulistas, among many other projects. The TOG unit is also responsible for producing Tuper Tubular Piles with Quick Connection, an innovation in the construction market that is already present in various works located in different parts of Brazil.
