Tuper, well-established as one of the major steel processing companies in Latin America, once again stood out in the ranking of the 500 largest companies in the southern region of Brazil. In an event held on Tuesday, the 17th, at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries of Rio Grande do Sul (FIERGS) in Porto Alegre, bringing together the press, awardees, partners, and authorities, the Amanhã Group and PwC Brazil revealed the ranking of the 500 LARGEST IN THE SOUTH 2023.
The opening panel at the award ceremony, titled “How Innovation Transforms Southern Businesses,” featured three leaders and important figures in innovation in their respective states: Marcel Malczewski, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Copel and TM3 Capital Fund (PR); Daniel Leipnitz, Chairman of Acate’s Board (SC); and Sérgio Carvalho, CEO of RandonCorp (RS).
In the 2023 edition, Tuper S/A, a company with over 50 years of experience in providing steel solutions for various market segments, secured the 122nd position among the largest companies in the southern region of Brazil and the 28th position among the top one hundred companies in Santa Catarina.

During the event, in addition to the 500 largest companies, the 500 emerging companies were also revealed, totaling one thousand companies on the list, providing a comprehensive and consistent overview of the industrial sector, where many names have appeared on the ranking for over thirty years.

Importance of the Ranking for the National Industrial Sector
The “500 Maiores do Sul” project has been carried out for 33 years by Grupo AMANHÃ with technical support from PwC, one of the world’s largest audit firms. It is considered the most important regional ranking of companies in Brazil and uses various indicators to list the largest and most competitive companies in the Southern Region, including the leaders in Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul, as well as highlights in various other sectors of the economy.
The list is compiled based on the Weighted Value of Greatness (VPG). This index, which defines the overall classification of companies in the ranking of the 500 largest in the South, reflects the size and performance of companies in a balanced manner. It is calculated considering the three major balance sheet figures: equity (which accounts for 50% of the VPG calculation), net revenue (40%), and net profit or loss (10%).
