The distributed generation sector in Brazil is experiencing a promising moment. According to data presented by the Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association (ABSOLAR – 07/2022), photovoltaic solar generation has already reached 33,757 MW, accounting for 15.4% of the Brazilian electrical matrix, with leadership from the states of SP, MG, RS, and PR.
According to ABSOLAR data, in 2023, the renewable source is expected to generate more than 300,000 new jobs, and investments in the sector could exceed R$ 50 billion.
As for centralized solar generation, between January and September 2023, there was the largest increase in capacity in Brazil’s history. In 2022, for example, the annual increase was 2.5 gigawatts, lower than the 3 GW installed between January and September 2023.
The expansion of installed capacity in the electrical matrix was 7 gigawatts (GW) between January and August 2023.
The sector’s growth was driven by segments such as agriculture, which has undoubtedly increased investments in solar energy in recent years, focusing on long-term savings. In 2020, for instance, despite the global pandemic caused by Covid-19, agribusiness was responsible for 70% of the installed photovoltaic systems in the country.
Moreover, with the availability of new lines of credit and the facilitation of financing for the acquisition of photovoltaic systems, what was once a distant and costly energy alternative has become more accessible to the population and businesses.
Given these factors, it is a rapidly growing market, composed of both small and large projects.
To meet this rising demand, various enterprises have emerged. It is estimated that there are more than 20,000 companies operating in the clean energy sector in the country, and this number is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.
Likewise, there is a growing demand for quality materials for the manufacturing of photovoltaic panel structures.
As one of the largest steel processors in Latin America, Tuper positions itself as a company with developmental technology capable of providing customized solutions for photovoltaic structures, such as perforated line profiles, pipes, parts, and welded assemblies.
Having a strong presence in the photovoltaic solar energy market for several years, in 2023, the company participated in Intersolar South America 2023, the largest solar energy event in Latin America, ranking among the major players in the sector.
Tuper’s steel structure solutions for the sector
Tuper serves the solar energy market by delivering steel solutions for structures applicable to various types of projects, whether in fixed ground structures or trackers, in both centralized and distributed generation. These solutions can be used in carports, agrivoltaic systems, and small, medium, and large solar plants.
All Tuper’s tubes, profiles, parts, and customized systems are available in the market in hot-dip galvanized steel, pre-galvanized, and also in Magnelis®.

Tubes
Tuper produces round, square, and rectangular structural tubes that can be bent and shaped to specific measurements for each project. They are suitable for manufacturing various structural components, but are especially applicable in tracker-type structures (solar tracking systems). Here are the dimensions:
- Round tubes from 15.87 to 339.7 mm
- Square tubes from 20 x 20 to 260 x 260 mm
- Rectangular tubes from 12 x 40 to 250 x 300 mm, with thickness ranging from 0.75 mm to 16 mm There is also the possibility of producing special geometries and dimensions upon request.
Profiles
The profiles include U and stiffened U or C models, with automated in-line perforation, among other available processes. These profiles thus cater to both fixed and tracker-type structures, applied as piles and other elements of the structural project. They can undergo automated in-line perforation, among many other processes.
Customized Parts and Systems
Advanced technology and high production capacity enable Tuper to cater to different types of projects, ranging from large centralized energy generation ventures to smaller distributed generation ones. These are processed parts and welded assemblies for the sector.
The solutions are developed and customized according to customer projects, in compliance with various national and international steel standards, for low, medium, and high resistance. The welding processes used at Tuper – MIG/MAG, TIG, and Laser – are standardized to meet demanding technical standards and adhere to the highest levels of quality.
Technology and Innovation
Tuper relies on advanced technology and high production capacity to meet the demands of this growing market. Here are some processes and technological resources offered by the company for the production of items for the solar sector:
- Tube Galvanization – hot-dip galvanization process
- Tube Painting – uses powder, polyester, epoxy, or hybrid paint in various colors
