The tubes may be coated with a triple layer polyethylene (3LPE), triple layer polypropylene (3LPP) and double or single layer of fusion bonded epoxy (FBE). The coating provides anti-corrosive and/or mechanical protection according to the application requirements.
3LPE AND 3LPP EXTERNAL COATINGS
Coating system applied on the tube surface using thermoplastic polyolefins. Provides anticorrosive and mechanical protection to the product. The triple layer polyethylene (3LPE) is applied in tubings
that operate in temperatures that vary from -40 °C to +85 °C, while the triple layer polypropylene system (3LPP) system is applied to tubings that operate in temperatures between -20°C and +110°C. Process characteristics
The tubes are firstly cleaned and heated. After that stage, the first layer of the system is applied with powdered epoxy (primer). A copolymetric adhesive is applied via side extrusion over the primer to
provide the adherence required between the primer and the third layer of the system. Lastly, polyolefin (polyethylene or polypropylene) is also applied via side extrusion, forming the triple layer
system. Products met The typical widths for both systems vary from 1.5 mm to 3 mm, and the process is possible for the
entire range of diameters manufactured by Tuper, in addition to lengths that vary from 8 m to 13.5 m.
FBE OUTER COATING
Outer coating that uses powdered epoxi (FBE) as a base to enable anticorrosive protection to the steel tube. The tubes are firstly cleaned and heated. After that stage, powdered epoxy is applied with
electrostatic guns over the tube surfaces, forming a uniform layer that cures right after its application. For more severe temperature conditions, and where there are more demanding requirements as to
mechanical resistance, other systems such as dual coating may be employed. The thickness and types of dual coating systems can be selected according to the design requirements. Products met
The typical thickness for that system varies between 350 and 450 mm, and the conduit operation
temperature in which that system may be employed is up to 90°C. The process meets all the
diameters produced by Tuper and lengths between 8 m 13.5 m.
